Flooding in Thailand!

Thailand is currently flooding!! Most of the areas in Thailand are flooding, some  places heavily, some not so heavily. Right now, the capital; Bangkok is about to flood too! Some areas have even already started to flood.
My family and I have already moved out of our house, even though it haven't flooded yet, just soon. We bought about 150-200 sandbags to protect the house around the entrances and sealed the openings, such as doors, windows, etc. We moved furniture and other things upstairs to the second floor and brought important things with us. We also took our pets with us too. :3 During the chaotic move, there were a lot of disorders. Things went wrong and everything was fast. There were some problems, such as no internet access, etc., which is now fixed. :)
I've also heard that in some houses where the rescuers went by were found left with home pets, mostly dogs. These dogs got abandoned by their owners, who either couldn't take them, or just decided to abandon them. I feel sorry for those dogs, caged inside the house with water surrounding it and nowhere to go. :( Seeing these dogs, the rescuers threw in dog food for the dogs to eat.
Since my family isn't flooding yet, we are also donating to the others who are suffering from this flood. Some areas in other provinces are very heavily flooded. People and home pets are suffering, with nowhere to live. So, my family decided to donate some money to the rescuers so that they could use the money collected from all over for survival kits to send to people who need help.
My family and I are currently living in Bangkok, safe and sound.

  1. Jane, Thanks to you and your family for contributing to help others. I am so glad your family has not been affected by the flood (hopefully not in the time since you posted). It sounds like your preparations were pretty thorough. It is heartbreaking to think of all the dogs and other pets left behind. When I went to Nonthaburi with the Red Cross, I saw many dogs just swimming in the waters, and every time I looked around for some sign of ownership or something. At that time we were only distributing food for people, not dogs. The writing in this post is clear, and the photo accents the message well. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Yes, but now they are also distributing dog food to all of the dogs found or stuck on an island-like place, like the balcony of a house, or some dogs even on wooden planks floating in the water. I also feel sad for all those pets left behind. :(

  3. Hello Jane!
It good to know that your house is not yet flooded. I did the same thing as you by moving the furnitures upstair so it will not get wet and flooded. When we hear the news about the flooding, everyone to the supermarket to buy thing like food. My family and I brought many thing that filled up four supermarket wheel-carts. Near my house there were some few dog swimming around as well and my family and I give them the amazing dog food. I liked the way you organized the paragraph, which made us easier to read and also the picture you out in was wonderful!

  4. Hey Jane!! Great post about the flooding that's happening. I also agree with you that the owners shouldn't abandon their pets (dogs) and just leave. I also feel sorry for them, not knowing what's happening and stranded in a house. You wrote a decent blog with thorough details. I also like how you add the emoticons to help show your feelings towards things. Anyways, GOOD JOB!!! :)
